Leviticus 6 and 7:
Leviticus 6 might appear repetitive to the untrained ear but it’s not! While Moses does repeat the offering details we have heard in previous chapters, there is one nuance here–the laws were instructions to the priests rather than to the people. While the people needed to know how and what to offer, the priests needed instructions on how to make those offerings too. It all worked together to make the temporary separation solution a reality between God and man. While a highly important and honored position, I’m grateful to not be one of them. The pressure to follow all instructions perfectly would have been a lot to manage.
HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:
My Bible bender came through Susan’s mentioning of Mary Douglas and her revelation of the importance of the genitals in the animal sacrifices as well as the division mirroring between the mountain, tabernacle, and sacrificial animals. It was the best kind of overwhelm to hear her epiphany explained. I won’t do it justice–go listen for it at the end of this week’s episode!
What was your Bible bender from Leviticus 6 or 7? Did you learn anything new?
