Leviticus 16 is the apex, the very heart of the whole book of Leviticus! The chapter covers the day of Atonement for the nation of Israel. (A very big deal.) It was important for Israel as it was the one day where all their sins of the year were forgiven. It’s important for us as it shows how Jesus’ one sacrifice was the one to end all sacrifices.
HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:
My Bible bender of the episode came from, who else, but Paul. Paul in Hebrews brings the whole book of Leviticus to the forefront, a connection I had never known to look for. Not only did he bring the two books together, he brought his times to our time today–from high priests to Christ as the high priest, copies of heavenly things to heavenly things themselves, man-made tabernacle to heaven itself. The connections just seem to never end and as Susan listed them, it was just proved how crucial the study of Leviticus is to the world today.
