Exodus 24
In this episode, we cover Exodus 24. Here, the Angel gets an even bigger spotlight and the Mosaic Covenant is outlined for the people. All the people need to do is first, listen to the instructions and obey by following the Angel.

The sequence of the Mosaic Covenant ceremony:
- Moses sprinkles the altar, atoning for sin
- The Book of the Covenant is read
- The people respond in agreement
- Moses sprinkles the people with blood saying,
- This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.
That is why the Mosaic Covenant is also called the “blood of the covenant” However, just as blood had to be shed to dedicate the old Mosaic covenant, blood will have to be shed to consecrate the New Covenant.
The Blood of the Covenant in the New Testament
- The term Blood of the Covenant may be familiar to you because it is used by Jesus at the last supper and by the disciples.
- During the last supper Jesus said in both Matthew and Mark,
- This is my bloodof the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins
- Why at the last supper?
- God symbolically chose this night for 2 reasons:
- First because the last supper was on the eve of Passover and Jesus is the fulfillment of all that was foreshadowed by the Passover lamb. The blood of the lamb that redeemed the Israelites foreshadows the blood of Christ, the blood of the new covenant, that saves those who place their faith in Him.
- Second, because the Last Supper was the eve of the prophesied new covenant act of redemption—
- the act of redemption was described by the prophets as a new exodus, our exodus from the bondage of sin
- and just as the first exodus from Egypt was preceded by the institution of the Passover, and followed by the Blood of the Covenant,
- the new exodus was preceded by the institution of the Lord’s Supper and is followed by the sprinkling of Christs blood on the heart of every believer as explained in Hebrews 10 and 1 peter 1.
- And just as Moses was the one to lead Israel in the exodus, Jesus provided the way for the new exodus.
- The last supper, on the eve of the Passover, the eve of the first exodus from Egypt, marked a new time of redemption, redemption for the world not just Israel.
