Deuteronomy 2-3: Remember What God Can Do For You

Deuteronomy 2 and 3

In this episode, we cover Deuteronomy 2 and 3. In this sermon, Moses tasks the nation to remember what God can do for them if they obey Him. Moses knows his end is coming and makes sure to use every minute to lead his people to obedience and remind them of the consequences of falling away from God. (If this is just the first of three sermons, how urgent and intense will Moses get?)

HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:

My Bible Bender from this episode was the application of the God-directed peace treaty in Moses’ time to present-day Israel accords. God told Israel not to fight with their relatives. Today, Israel has peace treaties with those same peoples–descendants of Ishmael. Israel is being obedient to God’s instructions thousands of years later. This is just another example of how the Bible applies to our present day. Do we think Moses’ sermons got their attention?

Have you ever studied Israel’s history in depth? Did you know about the various accords of today that keep? This episode reminded me that history and research provide fascinating insights tied to the Bible. There is always something new to learn if we take the time. How many of you Bible Book Clubbers are avid learners like Susan? It is not my gift, but this episode inspired me to research and reread commentaries during quiet times.

What was your Bible bender from Deuteronomy 2 and 3? Did you learn anything new?
