Deuteronomy 5-6: Just do it!

Deuteronomy 5 and 6

This episode covers Deuteronomy 5 and 6. We will move from Moses’ ‘Remember’ sermon to Moses’ second sermon, that we have lovingly coined as ‘Just Do It!’. In the sermon, the core of the book, Moses will review with the Israelites what they must do moving forward.

HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:

The Bible bender for me in Deuteronomy 5 and 6 came through understanding the Hebrew words originally used in the famous verse Deuteronomy 6:5, ” Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your strength.”

We learned ‘heart’ or lev translated to meaning your whole being, ‘soul’ or nepes translated to meaning your whole life, and ‘strength’ or meod translated to go big. That added so much clarity around this important verse. It added depth to know it means Love your God with your whole being, for your whole life, and go big, or extra in that love. With this new take on the meaning, I also felt convicted. Am I loving God with my whole being, for my whole life, and am I going big in my love and faith of Him? I’ll be pondering this lesson for a bit.

What was your Bible bender from Deuteronomy 5? Did you learn anything new?
