My Bible Bender for this episode was the parallel between the tabernacle and the garden of Eden.
Susan points out, “The design of the tabernacle points back the garden – the place of perfect union that the Israelites look forward to.
As we read the description of the tabernacle recall the words of creation in Genesis. As Moses lays out the design for the tabernacle, it mimics the design of Eden. In Genesis, God’s design is Eden, garden, tree of life. In the tabernacle there is Courtyard, Holy Place and Most Holy Place,
God tells Adam + Eve to work and take care of the garden Genesis 2:15. God tells the priests to work and take care of the tabernacle Numbers 3. Then Adam + Eve disobey and are exiled from the garden. God places Cherubim to guard the way back into the garden and the tree of life. In Exodus God tells Moses to place Cherubim on the top of the ark.”
